Child Protection Officer
Closing Date: 14 May 2013
You will be responsible for project implementation and monitoring; data collection and analysis; advocacy; and progress reporting on child protection activities as articulated project: "Promoting Protection and Education Rights of Children in Cotton Areas in Gujarat", supported by IKEA. The thrust of the work will be to promote effective programming to address child labour at state and district level. In addition, the Child Protection Officer will provide technical advice to the Department of Women & Child Development (DWCD), Social Justice and Labour departments with regard to planning, implementation, and monitoring of the integrated Child Protection scheme (ICPS) and promotion of the protective environment for children.
Qualification: University degree from a recognised university in social Sciences, Law or Child Development with a particular emphasis on child protection issues. Knowledge of, and training in, protection of children against exploitation/ child labour will be an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum 2 years relevant professional work experience in project management in the development sector, including field work with rural communities and interactions with institutions at state, district, and sub-district level, preferably focused on child labour or other child protection issues.
