Job Description: Loyola College, Chennai, is seeking an innovative scholar with a proven track record in creative and sound scholarship and in participatory management to occupy the The Inaugural Kaura Chair of Liberal Arts, which is endowed by Ritu and Sanjiv Kaura. The Chair is intended to focus on research in any one of the disciplines in Liberal Arts-History, English Literature, Philosophy, Arts, Anthropology, Communication, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Women's Studies, - and develop academic programme that generates research interests. The ideal candidate should present evidence of teaching excellence and demonstrate interest in faculty development. The candidate should be well-equipped to address the fundamentals of a holistic liberal arts education and moreover, possess the ability to imagine and implement innovative curricula.
Specific responsibilities include conducting relevant research, curriculum development and ongoing curriculum management; teaching; faculty development. Job Requirements: The successful candidate has excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. S/he has the ability to get Government funding for research and must be able to publish articles in reputed journals. In addition, s/he effectively should be an advocate for the arts and humanities departments in the college.
Requirements for the position are a Ph.D. in a liberal arts discipline, a minimum of 10 years college teaching experience, expertise with the integration of digital tools into liberal arts teaching, a substantive publications record and, ideally, a minimum of five years experience heading a liberal arts department.
Remuneration: from five to six lakh rupees
