Executive Director

AIDC desires to appoint an Executive Director (ED), on regular/ contract basis as a Turnaround Specialist, to lead and facilitate AIDC's efforts at restructuring its business model, financial position and Human Resource (HR) practices. The incumbent, in this newly created role, will be a key driver (or planning and executing the reform process of AIDC to improve its operating performance, establish AIDC as a project development company and also lead AIDC on a sustainable growth path.

Essential Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

  • Create long-term vision for the organization and ensure that it translates into effective objectives of each business segment of the organization.

  • Responsible for forming a task force to implement the Roadmap for Reform, monitoring its implementation, planning and monitoring organizational restructuring in line with the Roadmap and related capacity building of the staff in the organization.

  • Responsible for financial turnaround of the Corporation by
      - initiating balance-sheet clean-up
      - improving the financial discipline
      - triggering new business roles for revenue generation and
      - setting long term financial objectives and strategies

  • Play dynamic role in establishing the new business model, including creating a single window clearance cell, initiating activities of the Project Development and Planning for promotional activities of the organization amongst others.

  • Define customer centric quality philosophy for the organization and align internal processes, HR practices and client delivery with the defined philosophy to service both internal and external customers.

  • Play active role in negotiating with State Government and Industries Department to seek financial assistance as required for the reform process.

  • Build a business development function and undertake active liaising with the government, multilateral and private bodies on a continuous basis.

Other Required Accountabilities

  • Report to Managing Director on a regular basis to provide updates on the goals and objectives, and financial results and jointly design plans for any strategic changes in the corporation.

  • Focus on developing robust Information Technology (IT) systems in the organization to encourage automation and process orientation in the Corporation for efficient performance in the new business model.

  • Design and manage appropriate competency framework (to enable building of leadership pipeline) and change management programs.

  • The ED would draw requisite preliminary inputs from the report available on roadmap of reform for AIDC to fulfill the above mentioned accountabilities.

Age, Qualification, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Minimum age 45 years.

  • Academic qualifications:

      - Advanced degree (doctorate or master's) from a recognized University in management or business related field with an Engineering or Science background.

  • Work Experience:

      - More than 20 years - either national, international or a mix of which minimum experience of 5-8 years in senior management position.
      - Track record should include exposure to at least two of the areas including engineering, consulting, project development, project management, infrastructure planning and development, and such related areas.

  • Knowledge and Skills:
    Strategic Leadership:

    1. Demonstrated understanding and experience of leading reorganizing/ reforming/ restructuring of business units of private or public sector enterprises with net worth not less than Rs. 50 crores.
    2. Demonstrated exposure in setting up of new practices in business and revenue generation within a short time.
    3. Demonstrated experience of handling large budgetary exercises for organizations and suitable allocation of resources.

  • Networking with stakeholders, People Management skills, strong interpersonal skills:

    1. Extensive liaison experience and strong existing relationship with government/policy makers, market players in infrastructure for building project pipeline for AIDC's business for training initiatives, for attracting talent to AIDC and for developing consultant/ retainer relationship for AIDC.
    2. Cultural sensitivity and the ability to develop harmonious working relationship with internal staff, client teams from a variety of backgrounds and interests and demonstrated negotiation skills especially with senior government representatives.
    3. Ability to mentor and coach teams, manage large staff strength, especially with respect to change management requirements.

  • Familiarity with local markets and economy:

    1. Knowledge of North East India's and Assam's economy is a must to appreciate the nuances of project development and entrepreneurial needs for setting up industry and infrastructure in the state/ region.
    2. Ability to build AIDC's and Assam's image and foothold at national level is desirable to enable to liaise for project jevelopment activities and encourage entrepreneurship.
    3. Complete knowledge of the processes and policy jevelopments in infrastructure sector, specifically in the region s preferred.

  • Language proficiency:

    1. Fluency in English is a must and good knowledge of Assamese is preferred.

Remuneration Package
Commensurate with qualification, experience and suitability of he candidate.
