Book Production Department

Head - BPD and Multimedia
S/he will manage the Book Production, Multimedia and Publishing Support team in Chennai. S/he will also be a part of the Chennai Management Team and Global Book Production Team. Should have people management and development skills, be knowledgeable on STM Book business and ensures that Book & Multimedia projects and Publishing Support tasks are delivered as per KPIs. Maintains close relationships with peers in the Book Production department and with the Health Science and Science & Technology Publishing units. S/he will be responsible for Production Management, Recruitment & Retention, Continuous Improvement, Global Customer Focus, Change Management & Business Development.

Job Specific Requirement: Candidates must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and good in decision making. Should be good in managing cultural differences, inspiring & building trust and change management.

Education & Experience: Post graduates. Minimum 8 years of which 5 years should be in people management, recruitment and client management. Candidates should have experience in working with multinational companies and might have been abroad for a period of time for assigned tasks.

Project Manager
Responsible for the production stages of a book, scheduling, monitoring their day-to-day progress, liaising with editors, authors and suppliers, commissioning freelancers and evaluating costs.

Job Specific Requirement: Candidates need excellent organisational skills and communication skills with good command over spoken and written English. Experience of handling books, thorough knowledge of print and electronic production processes. Candidates willing to work in shifts only need to apply.

Education & Experience: Graduates in Science with 2-3 years of experience.

Team Leader-Publishing Support
The Team Leader Manages a team of Permissions Processors and Technical Assessors responsible for obtaining permissions, pre-transmittal work and manuscript preparation & art assessment. Liaise between the Developmental Editors, Acquisition Editors, Team Manager and Team Members on project and team specific information and improvement. Identify training needs and facilitate group meetings and activities.

Job Specific Requirement: Candidates must have an excellent command of both spoken and written English, people management skills, strong customer focus, project management skills, organizational and planning skills, analytical and problem solving skills. They should be capable of building a team by developing and motivating the team members.

Education & Experience: Graduates/ Post Graduates with a minimum of 6 years of overall experience of which minimum 2-3 years of experience in managing a team.

Customer Support and Central Processing Unit

Reporting Specialist
S/he will be responsible to design, build and maintain Business Objects (BO) reports using data from various systems. Ensuring the BO reports are scheduled/refreshed in agreed frequencies; processed/made available to the business in the agreed formats.

Job Specific Requirement: Design BO and SQL queries, process BO in the agreed format (Excel & PDF). Work with all required dedicated applications and in-house developed programs/ routines to refresh and process the reports, and make them available to the users Become involved with maintenance and development of other information products that make use of dedicated applications and in-house developed (VB) programs- Should have working experience and knowledge of Data structuring, Workflow Management System, ETL process and data Warehousing, VB basic coding, website maintenance and development. Candidates willing to work for 2pm - 11 pm shift only need to apply

Education & Experience: Any graduate with minimum 3+ years of business reporting experience.

Software Developer/ Scriptor
Reporting into the Continuous Improvement Manager, the Software Developer will become a member of the development team and will take responsibility for the development of scripts and small scale applications.

Job Specific Requirement: Create, document, and implement unit test plans Create and maintain technical documentation using defined technical documentation templates. Solid skills with Solid knowledge/ experience with Test Driven Development, Object Orientated Development and UML. Thorough understanding of the .Net Framework (2.0 & 3.5). Solid understanding Microsoft SQL Server 2000/ 2005 including Stored Procedures. Knowledge of Web Services,- ADO.NET, Custom control development. Solid Analysis & Design skills with Microsoft n-tier solutions. Strong understanding of Internet and Network topologies and protocols. Proven commercial coding experience using C#. PHP, .NET (VB & C#), SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, DHTML, Ajax.

Education & Experience: Any graduate with minimum 3+ years of work experience

Regional Continuous Improvement Manager
S/he is responsible to ensure that the operational goals and objectives are effectively communicated, managed and achieved within agreed timelines. Initiate, manage, implement and maintain Global Continuous Improvement best practices, consistent usage of methodology, processes and tools. S/he shall be part of the Global Continuous Improvement team and responsible for managing approximately 3 team members charged with supporting continuous improvement programs.

Job Specific Requirement: Certified Black belt Lean Six Sigma. The candidate should have implemented at least two projects. Ability to manage and develop a multi-skilled team of technical ability. Detailed understanding of business process. Excellent project and people management skills. Strong analytical and conceptual skills. Customer focused.

Education & Experience: Any Graduate with at least 5 years of work experience.

Manager - Electronic Customer Service
The Manager ECS reports to the Head of Customer Support & Central Processing Unit and is responsible for achieving the annual objectives in all KRA's, directing 5 e-Customer Service Teams and initiating improvement programs in conjunction with peers and other departments.

Job Specific Requirement: Strong project management and workflow optimization experience. Strong decision-making skills. Excellent people management skills. Sound understanding of order management and the invoicing processes. Management experience in an international environment. Customer focused. Strong ability to recruit, to develop, and to retain the right staff. Gifted in accurately assessing people, making the right 'hire for attitude' decisions, and decisively positioning people in challenging roles within a rapidly expanding organization. Candidates willing to work in 2pm - 11pm shift only need to apply

Education & Experience: Any Post graduate with a minimum of 5 years of line management experience.

Multimedia Department

Team Leader - Multimedia
The Team Leader manages a team of professionals which will be responsible for the production of Multimedia products, Health Science eLearning product according to agreed quality standards, budgets and schedules. Exposure in handling multimedia projects is mandatory

Job Specific Requirement: Candidates must have an excellent command of both spoken and written English, people management skills, strong customer focus, project management skills, organizational and planning skills, analytical and problem solving skills. They should be capable of building a team by developing and motivating the team members.

Education & Experience: Graduates/ Post Graduates with a minimum of 6 years of overall experience of which minimum 2 years of experience in managing a team. Candidates with experience in media industry with international experience, preferred.

General Management

Head - Business and Strategic Planning
S/he is responsible for Strategic/ Business Development, Project Management, MD Support and Change Management for Chennai Operations. S/he works closely with the MD and the Heads of the departments on projects and initiatives that impact the whole organization. Often the projects are strategic in nature (preparation for off-shoring activities, compiling strategic plan for Chennai Operations, CEO report, etc.) and/or involve coordination with other parts of the management team.

Job Specific Requirement: Candidates should be good in Customer Focus, Change & Continuous Improvement and Business Acumen. He/she should be good in inspiring & building trust and leading change

Education & Experience: Post Graduate preferably an MBA with a minimum of 8 years of overall experience. Candidates with experience in the Publishing Industry will be preferred and experience in Business and Strategy Management will be an added advantage.

All candidates must have proven communication skills and an excellent command of both spoken and written English. Computer literacy and ability to work to strict deadlines are essential. Experience of working in an international work environment is preferred.
