Background
The Department for International Development (DFID) is the UK government department (http://www.dfid.gov.uk) responsible for leading the effort to eliminate global poverty.
DFID wishes to fill two senior level vacancies, in its country office in New Delhi. DFID India has a large national programme that supports nationwide initiatives on human development, governance and the promotion of livelihoods; plus four focus states programmes, in Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.
The positions listed below will provide you with an exciting opportunity to work with the DFID India team to design and deliver DFID support for government and other partners' policies and programmes that work in favour of poorer Indian citizens. You will be expected to provide advice to a wide range of development initiatives, and lead on some of them as well. The positions are:
Social development Advisor:

Qualifications for each position respectively:
Both posts require a Masters degree or above in a relevant social science (for example, for the Social Development post, anthropology or sociology; and for the Governance post, public administration, law or financial management) from a recognised university, plus 8-10 years of relevant experience at a senior level with government, civil society or a donor agency.
